Can't connect through VPN

Can someone tell me what other ports need to be open in
order for VPN to work? I am using a SonicWall firewall and
have PPTP open, however when trying to connect with VPN it
get as far as "Verifying username & password" and fails.
If I create a new rule to allow all ports (very
destructive) it then will authenticate and connect.

There must be another port I need open other than PPTP.
Does anyone know?

Not another port, but you must configure the firewall to pass IP Protocol 47
(GRE).
