Can't connect into Router, but can ping it

I have a wireless router, but I am connected to it with an
ethernet cable. I cannot get past the router on this PC
(win XP Pro).

However, I have another PC running Win 2000, and it
connects to the router, and through to the Internet,
without a problem.

I have been following lots of troubleshooting guides from
Microsoft, but I have progressed no further.

Any ideas?

On both computers, open a command prompt window and type:

ipconfig /all

Then, compare the information that they show for their local area
network connections. They should show IP addresses in the same subnet
(e.g. 192.168.1.100 and 192.168.1.101), the same default gateway, and
the same DNS server(s).

Can the computers ping each other?

Both PCs can ping each other, and this is the result of
the ipconfig /all command.

Windows XP can't see the router ... Windows 2000 can:

Steve,

I saw your reply to another thread, and I have now
uninstalled Macafee Firewall - I had previously only
disabled it.

This has done the trick ... I can't believe that it's
taken me weeks of testing and checking for the solution to
be so simple.
