Can't close a PST file

B

Bill

Hello all:

I have a few large PST files that I use with Outlook. I
opened two and now I cannot close them. Everytime Outlook
loads these two PST's are there too.

If I try to close them, Outlook gives the very
informative "The operation failed. An object could not be
found" error message. When I click on PROPERTIES
|ADVANCED, I get the same error. When I move the two
files, Outlook still shows them in the folder list. I've
even tried to re-open them again and then close, no joy.

Other thank that, outlook seems to be running fine. I
just dont wat these fairly large failes open all the
time...

Running Outlook 2000 SR-1

Thanks in advance for any help...

Bill.

Are you running Outlook in IMO or C/W mode?

What happens if you exit Outlook, rename the .pst files, and then reload Outlook?

Same message as when I move them... "Unable to display
the folder. The file c:\****.PST could not be found"

There is still a listing for the PST in the folders list.

You sure you are renaming the correct .pst files? If Outlook can't find them, it cannot open them. If there was a link to a .pst file that no longer exist (because it got deleted, moved, or renamed), Outlook should offer the opportunity for you to browse to find and select them but if you cancel then the link remain invalid (which you can then close).

Internet Only... Have not tried to frog the modes... Yet.

I'm afraid I'm not familiar enough with OL 2000 IMO to be of any assistance.
Sorry.

I have a similar problem, but everytime I start Outlook it looks for the non
existing pst file. I also can't delete the duplicate personality.
