Can't change my cursor

I got on this morning and my cusor was a space rocket and i did not make it
that and when i tried changing it i could not .. i went to my contorl panel
and looked for cusors and it was not there.. so how come it did this and how
come i can't change it back.. I hope someone can help this is driving me
crazy i hate this cursor.. Thank you to any one who can help me...

What happens when you double click Mouse in Control panel and switch to pointers ?

When your computer starts up, press F8 repeatedly before the XP logo
appears. Choose "Last known good configuration." Your cursor choice is
stored in the registry, and should go back as long as it happened
recently.

Not sure if this is a digression but check out cursorxp (google it) great
freeware if you want some cool cursors
