Can't browse share resources from ME/9x clients

Dear all, I have newly installed a W2K member server and
transfer files from the original DC to a shared folder in
this new member server that has "Everyone/Full Control"
access. I can browse this shared folder in w2k/xp clients
but not ME/9x clients. I can ping the ip and netbios name
of this new member server from ME/9x clients. "Net use"
commands in logon scripts don't work as they did before.
However, after I map this new shared with "net use p:
\\ip_of_member_server_2\share1", I can now browse and map
to the shared resources in this new member server in ME/9x
clients. I am weired and don't know what to do. What makes
w2k/xp clients succeeded while ME/9x clients failed?
Appreciate very much if someone could give me some hints.

Do you have WINS installed on the server? W9x and ME need it.
