strange NETLOGON behavior

Hi there,

I am having a strange problem, I hope one of you can help me to a solution.

here's the deal:
in my first situation I was having one 2000 DC and one NT4 member server, 3
or 4 windows 9x clients and the rest win2000 or XP prof. clients.

This weekend I installed a second windows server, ran DCPROMO and made it a
DC.

Now whenever I start netlogon on the new server, the old win9x clients are
acting strange. Some of them can't login and display the error message
"wrong password........", some of them do login but there login script is
not working. The w2k and xp clients are working fine.
Whenever I disable netlogon on the new server, all is working fine.
Is there someone who can help me????????

some more info:

old 2000 server: PDC Emulator, GC, DNS, DHCP
new 2000 server: DNS (replicating with old).

disabling netlogong on old 2000 server and enabling it on new server >>>> no
solution

TIA for any help.

regards,

Marc

Have you checked the event logs on the new server to see if there's a
problem with AD replication and/or for the logon failure error codes?

knowing what the os is on the second server is is essential...if you
installed nt4 on it and made it a domain controller, then you need to go to
your original dc and make sure that it is running in mixed mode and not
native mode...if you installed 2000 server or above, you could have something
else

Hi Richard,

Thanks for your answer.

I do not have any strange problems in my logs concerning Replication, in
fact I do not have any logging anymore since nov. 15th. Last message was:

Event Type: Information

Event Source: NtFrs

Event Category: None

Event ID: 13516

Date: 15-11-2004

Time: 15:36:44

User: N/A

Description:

The File Replication Service is no longer preventing the computer ******
from becoming a domain controller. The system volume has been successfully
initialized and the Netlogon service has been notified that the system
volume is now ready to be shared as SYSVOL.

Type "net share" to check for the SYSVOL share.

PS: sorry Richard for sending a personal...pressed wrong button
