Can't Browse PCs on my network. Help?

Guest

I have a situation. For some reason I'm not able to browse for any of the
PC's or Macs on my net. I'm also unable to add network printers. I'm
running XP Pro. My W2K machine works fime. When I try to browse the
workgroup (IMAGEXPRESS) from my XP Machine, I get an error. ****IMAGEXPRESS
is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this
networkresource. Contact the Admin of this server to find out if you hace
Access permissions. The list of Servers for this Workgroup is not currently
available.**** But I'm logged in as an Admin. This problem seemed to have
started after installing PC MacLan, which I have unintalled. Any help would
be great.

Thanks,

Jason

Please provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each computer (as
many
as 3 if possible), as a start. Read this article, and linked articles, and
follow instructions precisely:

YOU NEED SET UP A REAL CONNECTION FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS BELOW

1 SET UP A USER ACCOUNT UP ON PC YOU ARE TRYING TO GET TO, USE THE SAME NAME
AND PASSWORD YOU USE ON PC YOU ARE TRYING TO CONNECT FROM AND MAKE IT A
ADMIN ACCOUNT.

2 INSTALL A STATIC ADDRESS ON PC YOU ARE TRYING TO CONNECTING TO IF IT DOES
NOT HAVE ONE AND PUT THE NAME AND IP ADDRESS OF THIS PC IN THE HOST FILE OF
PC YOU ARE TRY TO CONNECT FROM.
THIS FILE IS IN C:\WINDOWS \SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ECT
OPEN HOST FILE USING NOTE PAD
ADD IP ADDRESS AND PC NAME IN HOST FILE AND SAVE
I HAVE COPIED THE HOST FILE BELOW TO COMPARE TO

THE PC I'M CONNECTTING TO IS
192.168.0.1 CSD1 (SEE HOST FILE BELOW)

THIS IS WHAT YOU WILL ENTER IN FILE USING YOUR IP AND PC NAME YOU ARE TRYING
TO CONNECT TO

YOU WILL NEED TO TYPE THE PATH IN FOR WHAT YOU ARE TRYING TO CONNECT TO. DO
NOT TRY TO BROWSE TO HERE IS WHAT I WOULD TYPE

\\CSD1\C$ WOULD BE MAPPING A SHARED DRIVE ON CSD1
\\CSD1\HPLASERJ WOULD BE A SHARED PRINTER ON CSD1

THE HOST FILE TURNS PC NAME INTO IP ADDRESS AND THIS IS HOW THE PC's CONNECT.
HAVE DONE THIS MANY TIMES TAKE YOUR TIME ON ENTREES AND YOU WILL CONNECT
RIGHT UP
