Cant browse internet

P

png computers

I can ping my gateway, and my server. I can not ping any
outside ip addresses or fully qualified domain names. I
can browse my network. I tried setting ip Dymamic IP and
also a static. I put in all the other proper settings
such as IP address, gateway, dns info, etc still ng. I
tried deleting the TCP/IP stack and reinstalling it, ng.
The rest of my network is working and browsing just fine
except for these 2 workstations. These machines are
running Win 2000 workstation. The others are running 98
or XP. I dont know if that has something to do with it?
I had a simular situation to this at this same customer
once, where I tried setting up a pc and could not
browse. I changed the IP from dynamic to static and
bingo it worked. This was strange to me because there
are other pc's on the network running dynamic IP's with
no problem. However that solution is not working in this
instance. Please offer any suggestions. Thank You

Then your problem is an IP connectivity problem, not a DNS problem, and you
are in the wrong newsgroup.

If you can't ping by IP address then you likely either have some sort of
routing issue or it may be getting blocked. How do you actually connect to
the Internet? Through a proxy? A firewall? Are these machines using NAT
to access the Internet? Are either of these machines multihomed?
