Can't boot after Windows XP Update

T

Ty

I installed the latest update for Windows XP using the 1-2-
3 service. During installation an error message came up
saying something about not being able to delete a certain
file. I should have written down the message, but did
not. I clicked "Continue" and the install finished and
reported that it was successfully installed and that the
computer needed to be rebooted. I rebooted and got a
basic DOS-looking screen that said "Sorry for the
inconvenience..." I've tried all of the options on this
screen: Safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode
with command prompt, last good configuration, and get
nowhere. The computer just boots back to the same "Sorry"
screen. Help!!

Most likely you will need to boot to the XP CD for a
repair type re-install of XP or use the Recovery Console
from the XP CD which is rather tricky to fix things.
