Can't Add a newly recorded sound for new mail notification

Hi,
I've been trying in vain to add a newly recorded sound (my son's voice) to
my Windows sound schemes. I can record the sound with the Windows sound
recorder with no problem. Vista gives me no option but to record the sound
as a .wma file (this is also clearly stated in all Help tutorials). BUT the
only files that can be added or personalized into Windows sound schemes (like
new mail notification) are .wav files. I've tried and tried to change the
file from .wma to .wav but there is no way to do it in Vista. Very
frustrating. How can I convert files to .wav or fix this? Please, please
help.

I have no idea what this has to do with Windows Mail, but try IrfanView
(www.irfanview.com).

Vista's Soundrecorder defaults to saving in .wma format, except in Europe (N
edition).
You can save in .wav format by starting the program with a parameter...

soundrecorder /file outputfile.wav

or, you can download a free program, like Audacity
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/
which is also an editor.
