No Sound

I purchased a new laptop a week ago and everything was running properly. Two
days ago my sound disappeared for my new mail notification. I have gone into
sounds and tried to set it up again, but I still do not get any sound for
this. All of my other sounds work correctly. I researched this on here and
also on the Internet and have done all the proper things, but still no sound
will come through on that. Has anyone else had this problem and is there a
workaround for it?

Open Windows Mail >( top ) Tools > Options > General tab, under Send/Receive
Messages, put a checkmark on the first box " Play sound when.... " > OK

When you click the Test button under Control Panel, Sounds, does
the correct sound play?

Note that a sound, such as "Asterisk" must be selected before the Test
button is enabled. I know you know that Gary, but other people might be
confused if this small detail is left out.

Yes, when I hit the test button the correct sound plays.
