In safe mode, turn off simple file sharing, then when you
reboot to normal mode, the Firewire drive should show up.

| Hello. After my HP Pavilion laptop (using WinXP Home SP2)
was returned
| for repair (and my system drive replaced) I could no
longer access two
| folders on my non-bootable external firewire hard drive. I
got an
| "access denied" error. According to various web sites and
newsgroup
| messages, all I need to do is set the permission in the
Security tab
| of the folders while in an Administrative account in the
Safe Mode.
| Unfortunately, my firewire hard drive does not show up in
Safe Mode.
| Is there a way I can load the firewire drivers for Safe
Mode? Thanks
| in advance.

Sorry, I read your reply wrong. I can see the firewire drive in normal
mode, but I want to be able to see it in safe mode!!!

In Safe Mode, only a limited set of drivers is loaded. Fireware controller
or storage driver may not be one of them.
