can't access excel file

I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this but, I
have 2 excel files that was saved to a floppy disk on
another computer by someone else. When I go to open them
on my computer I get the message:
" Cannot be accessed.The file may be read-only or you may
be trying to access a read-only location. Or the server
the document is stored on may not be responding."
I don't understand this. There has never been a problem
before. Any ideas?

Copy the files to your hard-drive before opening.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Excel File Corruption.

Have the person who saved the file to the floppy disk, save a new copy to their
HD and then copy to a good floppy before giving it to you.

When you get the floppy, copy the file to your HD and then open the file from
the HD location.
