Hello
I have a W2k server. When I try to access it from explorer like \\machine1,
it gives "server is not configured for transactions" error msg. I found some
discussion on ths forum and tried all the hints. But it appears that the
IPC$ is not shared by default. If I share it using 'net share IPC$', I can
access the machine, but soon afterwards (2-3 minutes), the share turns off
automatically. I am not sure why it's happening, or how to fix it.
One interesting thing I found is that when I boot the machine up, without
logging it into the network, if I try \\machine, it shows all the folders
shared. Also \\machine\c$ is available. HOwever, within minutes of logging
it into the network, the shares become unavailable. I wonder if the issue
has anything to do with network, or permissions etc.
Any hints?

TIA

Is the system fully patched and has current AV? Check the trojans as well.
