Canon software conflict

I have a Canon Pixma IP 3000 and have identified its driver - the latest
one, downloaded - as being the source of dramatic problems (particularly on
boot-up) on my new PC. One other problem is a faltering of the play when
using a sound device (I'm using WinAmp an RealPlayer and have absolutely no
other app. installed on my PC; my soundcard is Realtek AC 97).
Canon say they don't test their product with any of the applications I
mentioned to them as being suspects in a software conflict.
I wonder whether anyone else knows any more about this problem and how it
might be remedied.
Cheers.

Are the printer and the sound card currently on the same IRQ ?

What's an IRQ? And how would I know whether it is?

Incidentally, I had some of these boot-up problems - system files 'missing
or corrupt' and a spontaneous running of CHKDSK before I had got my Canon
(instead had an Epson, and before that a Lexmark), and before even I had my
current PC, with all the graphics card, audio card etc that came with it.
But perhaps that was just down to my dodgy installation of Word (which I
haven't put on this installation of xp)...
Cheers.

I would doubt that the Canon printer driver is anyway associated with
your computer problems, or we would be hearing a whole lot more about
it here. So far, you are the first. HP drivers have a reputation for
causing problems, but not Canon.
