Canon - refilling

I've just started re-filling my s9000 and i950 cartridges with JetTec
(UK) inks - super results / good colour matching.

QUESTION :- how many times can you fill/refill a cartridge (I'm sure

that) - someone said 'no more than five or six times'....

Any definite info about this from experienced 'Canon Refillers' would
be most welcome....

I've refilled the BCI-6 mainly - using naturally the JetTec 5853 cartridges
and JetTec ink - as I distribute them myself from www.inkylink.co.uk . So
far 10 times with the black cartridges and colours.
It is generally felt wise to avoid more than 15 refills although as you
don't penetrate the foam with the ink reservoir structure and separate foam
side little damage is done to the ink holding foam.
The only deterioration I've seen was from over used Epson refilling when
the foam was pin-holed from the refill needle.

MY friend has i550 and he got a spilled ink after about 10 refills, so i
guess 10 times is very maximum.

Hi,

I have the canon s9000 for about 2+ years now and I have ALWAYS refilled
(www.inkgirl.com)

After about 1/2 a pint or so - there appears to be a slowing of the ink flow
when printing large masses color - the color will appear to go out of
balance.... hint - a slight blue of yellow cast..... when that happens, I
just go-to-the-store and get a new set of canon inks - use them up and
refill till I get low flow...

NOW - before I use the new inks (and at times TBD) - I clean the printhead
with Windex - spraying BOTH ways till the fluid runs with no ink, blow with
air - let dry ... THEN install the new tanks, clean (deep) and print away.

This works for me - YMMV

I just got my refill kit for my i850 from Island Inkjet. It will be a while
(I hope) before I have to refill but it seems easy enough. They even
included a tiny finger drill to make fill holes in the cartridges and show
where to make them.

So I have enough ink of all colours to refill 8 times which will cut my
costs down to roughly $5 Can per fill of each cart.

I have used their ink before with my previous Epson printer and couldn't
tell the difference in the prints between Epson and Island Inkjet. Clogs
weren't a problem either. I hope my experience with Canon will be the same.

I have the i860 and was considering using Island for my refills as well.
I'd be interested in hearing if you do have any problems when the time
comes. It will also be a while before I need to refill.
