Canon Powershot A300

Each time I want to download pictures from my Canon
Powershot A300 I have to unistall the hardware and reload
the drivers from the original CD. I get "drivers not
installed, code 28" when I try to plug and play. Any one
else overcome this problem w/o uninstalling and
reinstalling each time?
