Canon Multiplass C555 printer

I am getting the following message when attempting to
print using this printer under XP(worked fine under 98):
"Spooler subsystem App has encountered a problem and
needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience".
I have tried restarting the print spooler service and
while it apparently restarts, the message reappears. Any
clues? Any thought that this printer actually can work
with XP?
