Canon I860 text paper

I have a report due next weds. I know that my professor highlights things
when he wants to point them out. I've asked for help on the type of paper to
use. I've tried every setting with my canon printer. I have the cheap office
depot 20lb 84 bright. I tried using a Mon-Ami Handy Highlighter and the ink
smears on the paper. I've tried more than one highlighter as well. I'd like
to be able to highlight my syllabi after I complete an assignment. I'm
begging people. Can anyone give me some help?

Try some matte paper. If you have an office supply store near you you can
check the clearance table and find some at a good buy.

How is it that the Matte paper is better than the rest?

I 'second' the question.
I would believe Matte might blot the ink a bit better...
ANYONE using HP inkjet paper with the CANON?
What text only paper is suggested for OVERALL good results?
Thanks.

Try Hammermill 28 lb color copy paper.
We use it for text printing on the I850 with
excellent results. Letters are sharp, crisp,
and black. You should obtain the same results
with the i860 and plain paper media standard
resolution setting.

Staples sells this product for about $9.99
per ream of 500 sheets. Xpedx sells it
by the case for less.

IIRC, the problem OP had was that his yellow hiliter
smeared the ink. IMO that's not a paper issue, but an ink
issue - IOW, the solvents in the hiliter will attack the
ink no matter how well the paper has absorbed it. So, I
would suggest he try different hiliters, or use a laser
printer instead. Laser toner in my experience does not
smear.

I have a I850 (BCI3e-BLK) and used some Great White presentation(matte)
paper and tried all of my highlighters on it and no bleed.

I've used Great White before. Worked well in an HP.
I used to buy it at Office Depot but they quit carrying it.
In fact they carry a much smaller selection of paper these days
and I now buy at Staples.
Will try the heavier HammerMill - in addition.

I tried the office depot brand 20lb, 84 bright and it didn't fair wel with
my highlighter. I'm gonna try matte paper next. I can't believe how hard it
is to find a paper that can be used upon with a highlighter. I have more and
more homework building up and I like to highlight my syllabi to organize
myself. If anyone has had any experience with Canon I860 and a particular
paper that doesn't smudge when a highlighter is used please feel free to
respond. I'm always looking for suggestions.

Like I said before -- I think it's an ink problem, not a
paper problem. Eg, photocopies don't smudge, text printed
on my HP660C does. Same paper. The solvents in the hiliter
will dissolve ceratin inks enough to smudge, is all. Change
your ink or change your hiliter. The latter is probably
cheaper. :) (It's possible, but IMO highly unlikely, that
the fillers in some papers react with the ink to make it
insoluble in hiliter. It's also possible that 3rd party
inks Canon's ink react differently to hiliter. But I'd
start with a bunch of different brands of hiliters before
I'd explore those possibilities.)

BTW, I've noticed that some hiliters smudge newspaper ink,
some don't. More evidence supporting my opinion.

If you can't find a highlighter that doesn't smear go to plan B. Get a
fine line red pen such as the Pilot Precise Extra Fine and a 30°x60°
triangle for a straight edge. The triangle is easier to hold and
manipulate than a ruler. Place only the edge on the paper and
underline. It's as quick as highlighting.

I was wondering if you could tell me the weight and brightness of this
paper. Did you buy it at Staples? Thanks so much for you response. I just
bought an accent and a MonAmi handy highlighter and both didn't work on my
office depot paper. I simply like to use highlighters on my homework and
syllabi that are printed out. I knew everything was going too smoothly for
me.
