Canon i860 - Ink Smudges on Envelopes

When I print an envelope on my Canon i860, it leaves an ink smear on
the trailing end, plus usually some along the inside edge. I took out
the print head and cleaned it, but the smudges still get on the
envelopes. How can I clean whatever needs cleaning?

I forget which method the 860 uses, but I think you have a "non-abrasion"
lever on top of the print carriage. That needs to be moved over for
envelopes and heavy stock. If that's not there, then there's a
"non-abrasion" setting in the driver. With newer printers, simply selecting
"envelope" as the media type engages the non-abrasion mode.

Thanks for the hint. I will get out the manual and see if there is
something about non-abrasion.

The lever might be labeled something like "heavy stock", you can't miss it,
look on the print carriage.
