canon i560 envelope smudges black ink

When printing greeting card envelopes approx. 8 3/4 inches by 5 3/4
inches from Greeting Card Factory program, the envelope edge that is
fed into the printer has black ink smudges on the front of the
envelope. (i am NOT printing in black).
I have done nozzle check, print head alignment, cleaning, nothing
works.

If I print letters, envelopes, spreadsheets from Word and Excel, this
does not happen

suggestions will be appreciated. Mel

In your drivers, select the "Envelope" setting. If you do not have
that, then you should have a manual level that would increase the gap
and prevent the smearing.

Above the head carrier (flip the cover and look where the inks go),
there's a grey toggle, the default is for plain paper, but for
envelopes and thicker stock, you're supposed to flip it over to the
envelope setting.

Don't know if there's anything else you could try.

I have i550 and i must remove whole print head and clean it at the bottom
every few months. It seems that it gets dirty beneath and when you insert
thick paper (or envelope), that ink remains stay on that paper, so remove
whole head (that's remove ink tanks, then head) and clean it with some cloth
or similar.
