I just purchased one and when opening the silver pouch with the printerhead
I noticed a blue liquid all over the printer head. Is this normal?

Mine had some on it to along with some yellow. Dealer said it probably was
something (maybe ink?) to keep the head moist so it wouldn't plug up (it's
in the sealed bag so it must be keeping some liquid in it, no?). Once it
was in the machine and the ink wells loaded, it worked fine. I did do some
initial setup where the lines needed a +1 on mine for alignment.

Good luck. You'll be amazed at the 4x6 output too!

Oh, mine takes about one minute to print a high-quality photo image. They
claim 37 seconds, but.....?

I believe it's used to decrease head sticking and spoilage. The print head
can go bad from non-use. Some of these printers are not sold for a year and
they sit in inventory. The chemical you've seen is probably much like an
oily preservative.
