Cannot view/reconnect to my wireless network after reboot

I have setup a wireless WPA network at home, not broadcasting my SSID. I can
view networks in range, select mine and connect. The problem occurs when I
disconnect and turn off my wireless adapter or reboot my laptop.
When I turn on my wireless adapter or have rebooted, I cannot see any
networks in range after refreshing the view. My wireless network is at the
top of the list to automatically reconnect when it is in range.
I have to go thru the 'new wireless connection wizard', (all the information
I need to enter is already populated) and when I click finish, my network
shows up in the view and I am connected.
Am I missing something when I create the connection? It doesn't appear to
save it.
Thanks

Well, the problem is that I cannot run that command until I connect, which I
cannot do.
But, I have bigger problems now, I cannot even turn on the wireless card
with the button on my laptop keyboard. In device manager, it says the
wirelesss card is working properly, I've removed the card, rebooted and
reinstalled the card, rebooted, it finds the card, but I still can't turn it
on. Looks like I'm going to call HP. I'll get back to this after the card is
working.
Thanks.

What fixed this problem was to go into the BIOS and restore the BIOS to
defaults under the file menu. I was then able to turn my wireless card off
after I finished using it, and turn it back on when I needed it. I now
connect automatically to my home wireless network. I have no idea why the
BIOS got corrupted, I've never gone in there.
