I am sorry if this message is too lengthy but here is my problem. i have a
netgear wireless media player installed on my system. i have it directly
connected via an ethernet card. the media player and it's software worked
fine until i upgraded the software to the newest version. when i did that the
software no longer recognized my ethernet card and subsequently the media
player will not work. i tried uninstalling the software and everytime i do i
get the following message "cannot open install.log file". i tried
reinstalling the software and then uninstalling it and i still get the same
message. i tried installing the older version and once it recognizes that the
newer version is on my system it shuts down. i contacted netgear and they
told me that uninstalling the software in safe mode should solve the problem,
it did not. i contacted them again and they said that i should contact the
computer vendor or microsoft and they could help me. i built my own
computer, obviously their customer support is not very good. i don't have the
money to contact microsoft. can anyone help me with this because as of right
now the media player is worthless.

Try mannually deleting the files for the program and then do a search of the
registry for the program and remove any entries. I have had to do this with
troublesome programs in the past and it does work just be very carefull about
what you remove from the registry. If you are not comfortable doing registry
edits perhaps you can have someone help with that process. Good luck.

i tried that and when i try to install the older version it keeps telling me
that a newer version is installed on this computer and exits. i also tried
reinstalling the newer version and it asks me if i want to uninstall the
version that is presently on my computer and i check yes it then says that it
cannot find the program and any of its associated files and then exits. this
is driving me crazy.
