I installed a popular financial program and before the installation was
completed after a ten minutes I checked the task manager and it stated their
was no response to the running program. I put the installation disk back
into the computer and clicked on uninstall and got a error message (error
1723) a problem with windows installer package and the program would not
uninstall. I then went to the control panel, found the program and right
clicked the program to uninstall it and cannot unstall it from there. Any
suggestions? (I even used the modify/add/unistall portions of that program
and still get that error relating to a missing dll)

My guess is that it is not completely installed; therefore, it may not have
all the necessary files to uninstall it.

You may have to manually delete the program from your hard drive and remove
the entry "Programs and Features" via the Registry Editor:

Hi Jason. I deleted the files and edited the registry by deleting the files
associated with the program. I tried reinstalling the program and got the
same error message - "Error 1723 There is a problem with the Windows
Installer package. A DLL required for the install to complete could not be
run."

I found how to take care of the problem of uninstalling a program. I
downloaded the Microsoft Installer cleanup tool; ran the program and selected
the financial program that I wanted to delete from the long list of program
files that I installed. I then reinstalled the financial program without any
errors.
