"Cannot start Outlook"

Lis

Have been getting this message when I click to start up Outlook 20002: (part
of Office XP Standard)

"Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Outlook requires Microsoft Outlook Express
4.01 or greater. You can install Outlook Express by running IE5Setup.exe
from the IE5 folder located on your CD or through the Windows Update
website."

IE 6 and Outlook Express 6 SP1 are installed and running. Outlook was
opening until a short time ago.

If anyone have any suggestions I would be most grateful.

TIA

Linda

Do a repair on both Office and Outlook and try again.
If it still doesn't work you can try whether recreating your mail profile
makes a difference;
Control Panel-> Mail-> button Show Profiles...

Thanks for your reply Roady.

I did a repair - and got the same message ..... I then did a reinstall ....
still same message
then tried deleting the Outlook mail profile and creating it again ....
still the same message.

If you have any other ideas .... I would be appreciative!

Yup ... then kept getting messages saying that Ie and Oe had been removed
and did I want to
remove my personal settings ..... which I admit scared me ...... But did the
OE backup ....... then
the next time I booted gave the ok to remove ....... Which luckily did
nothing except stop those
messages. ..... But still get the same message for Outlook - "Cannot start
Microsoft Outlook. Outlook requires Microsoft Outlook
Express 4.01 or greater. You can install Outlook Express by running
IE5Setup.exe from the IE5 folder located on your CD or through the Windows
Update website." (IE 6 SP1 is installed)........

Got any other ideas up your sleeve= :)

Not sure if this is of any help but... are you using Win98?

If so, I seem to remember that with some of the earlier CDkeys... think they
started with "fwp" or something... that Outlook was working fine until I
loaded MS Project and then I was unable to start either Outlook nor Project.
I understand Visio would have caused a similar problem.
