You didn't mention what version of Office/outlook you are using, but I would
suggest an uninstall/reinstall (or repair) of the product since it looks
like you have problems with the registry.

/neo

ps - depending on how badly your registry is damaged, you may end up
reloading windows. of course only you will know if windows is giving you
issues.

Hi Neo,
Thanks for your advice.

I am using outlook 2003 (11.8206.8202) SP3 and WindowsXP SP3.

I did run the repair, install it many times.

Now, I can start outlook 2003 but there is nothing in the profile.
When I press Tools and E-mail accounts. It reveals "The operation failed due
to registry or installation problem. Restart Outlook and try again. If the
problem persists, please install" Then, I restart outlook but it does not
help.

When I go to control panel > mail and press either "E-mail Accounts" or
"Data Files", nothing happen.

I can access "Show Profiles". I had created several profiles. I press
"Property" and then "E-mail Accounts" or "Data Files", nohting happen.

do you have the same problem under a new windows xp user id? Just so you
know, this will help you figure out if the corruption is user or machine
based. If it works under the new user id, then you pretty much know that
the registry keys under HKEY_CURRENT_USER are toast under your existing/old
user id.

I created a new user and thereby start the outlook but the same problem
happens.

BTW, the following patches cannot be installed. I do not know if there are
any relationship.
KB936181: Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2
KB928365: MIcrosoft .NET Framework 2.0
KB941569: Windows Media Format Runtime 9.5
KG950759: Internet Explorer 7

Again, you have a registry problem that is machine wide. Not knowing what
the last update you applied to Windows XP (e.g. SP3), I would say cut to the
chase and reformat/reload Windows + applications.

Sorry I don't. Best advice is to contact Microsoft Product Support and see
what options are open to you.
