Cannot send or receive

I have installed a BCM v.90 56K Modem using Windown XP Pro on my computer via
the windows device installer. I then went and set up the fax program and
everything seems fine. I then tried to send a trial fax and here is what
happens...

the program gets a dial tone
it dials the number
the number answers and begins screeching
the program never responds to the answered call and says that there is no
answer, fax failed

Any thoughts on what the problem might be? Could this be a firewall issue
or something similar? I have added the fax program to the allowed programs
list and still get the same results.

I solved my problem by purchasing a new modem. I guess the technology on the
board I installed was not compatible with my computer, although it was with
my version of Windows.
