Cannot Remove Network Printer

Will Niccolls

I need to delete a network printer from a client. When I do so, I get the
following error:

"Printer connection cannot be removed. Operation can not be completed"

This happens both in the Printers and Faxes menu, and using the command:

rundll32 printui.dll PrintUIEntry /dn /n\\machine\printer

I am running it as a local administrator on the pc. It's a Windows 2003
domain, the print server is S2003 SP1. Printer is a new Konica Minolta.
Nothing is logged in the application or system event logs.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Will

Have you changed the name of the computer in the network setup lately?
If so, change it back to the old one, remove the printer and rename it to
the new one.

Nope, haven't done that. Any other ideas?

Check to see if you have a print job spooled to that printer. (Just
double click on the network printer icon in Printers and Faxes and any
outstanding print jobs should be shown). If there is an outstanding
print job, delete it and then you should be able to delete the
printer.
