Cannot receive emails - no error message

Hi Guys

I have been using Windows Mail successfully for a few months, following some
difficult start-up issues.

Suddenly today, my account has stopped receiving any emails. I have sent
test emails to myself from another yahoo account, but they are not arriving.

When I click send/receive all appears to be working with no error message
etc, but the emails are simply not arriving.

Do you have any suggestions?

Not yet, but I'm going to the shop in a few minutes to get some skins.

Do you get a message when trying to receive?
If so post it here in full (but hide your email address)

Which Anti Virus are you using?

I do not get any message at all - it all seems to be working fine, but I
know that there are emails that are not getting through.

I use Avast antivirus and have email scanning switched off.

Thanks

Don't take this wrong but... Have you checked your Junk E-mail box?

They might be going there erroneously?

Completely empty. In fact that was how I first thought something might be
wrong. I usualy switch on to a heap of junk, and today there was only one....

What do your ISP have to say for themselves?

You pay them so they are obliged to help.

Get them to check for your mail on their server.

Could this be the probels - I got this from the 123-reg website:

We are experiencing some ftp issues with our hosting9 server. Our system
administrators are looking into this and should hopefully have this resolved
asap. We apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused

FTP (file transfer protocol) isn't involved with receiving email
which uses POP (post office protocol) so I don't understand quite
why it should but if they are having server problems they might
be wider that just FTP.

No, FTP is not related to email.
Does your mail provider offer webmail access? If not,
you can use http://mail2web.com. Take a look at what
is sitting on the mail server. If there is nothing, than the
mail server might be at fault.

Hi Gary

I checked there and have about 50 or so emails that had not arrived at the
webmail account, but had obviously been delivered.

I can send mail no problem.

Hi Gary

I have done this, but I cannot send/receive any messages from any of my
accounts. I get the following message:
Unable to logon to the server using Secure Password Authentication. Account:
'Busymummy.co (rachel)', Server: 'busymummy.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Server
Response: '-ERR Invalid command.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error:
0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC18

Do you have any suggestions?

Do not use Secure Password Authentication.
You can uncheck that option by going to Tools, Accounts,
select the account, Properties, Servers.

That affects receiving, but does not affect sending. If you
still get a sending error, let us know what it says.

Hi Gary

In Windows Live Mail I cannot de-select the incoming mail password
authentication, but I can for outgoing mail

As a result, I am getting the same error message as before

I didn't realize you were asking for WLM, so I gave you the WM solution.
In WLM, you must select one of the three forms of authentication for the
incoming mail server. In your case, select "Log on using clear text authentication."

There are two possible causes. Either you are supplying the username/password
incorrectly, or else the account is corrupted. So delete that account, restart WLM,
then recreate that account.

I have deleted the account but this has not worked....

I know that the password etc is correct.

I have downloaded Thunderbirf - but am still told that the password is not
working! I have not changed it at all - any ideas?
