I recently removed McAfee anti-virus and firewall from my
system and I believe I corrupted my registry. When I
attempt to ping other computers on my network I get the
time out message. I can only ping my ip address. I ran
a registry restore program with no success. Any help
would be appreciated.

do you use DHCP or static IP? posting the result of ipconfig /all here may
help.

Back in the day we used to see this customers that had AOL installed
and removed it. It changed the networking. Maybe you have some false
network card or something like that.

Check for a ghost network card. AOL used to screw up the networking
when people tried to uninstall it. End solution was completely
re-install the networking driver and re-setup networking.

I am adding my experience to this in the hope of triggering som
advice.

Small business network with 3 NT4.0 w/s, one Win2K w/s, one NT4.
server, one Win2K server. All connected through Linksys 8-por
workgroup hub. Connect to Internet via Netgear RP614 router/firewall.
This has been working for years.

Just connected Toshiba Satellite A75 XP Pro to network. Can see al
other w/s and servers (ping in both directions) but cannot pin
router.

Router IP is 201.1.1.100.
XP Pro laptop IP is 201.1.1.25.
IP addresses are fixed.
Router has DNS addresses.
XP Pro has tried using Router as DNS and the DNS addresses in th
Router but no luck.

Help!
Thanks
