Cannot ping my own IP address

I have xp home with firewalls disable and no tcp/ip 6. I cannot get my
computer to ping itself. It will ping my computer name, 127.0.0.1,
localhost and my wireless router, but I cannot get it to ping my own ip
address or anyone else on the network. The routing tables show my ip
adress as pinging 127.0.0.1... so shouldn't that mean that it should
return the same output as pinging 127.0.0.1 when I ping my own IP?

Firewalls? More than one? Uninstall any non-Microsoft firewall software
and try again.

I have uninstalled all my firewalls, and disabled the windows firewall.
I have also booted in safemode with networking and still cannot do it.
Also, i said earlier that I could ping my computer name, but
apparently I was wrong. I cannot ping my computer name or my ip
address. One other thing I noticed thats odd, other computers on my
network can ping me.

If sitting at the keyboard of the computer - to ping use "localhost".
127.0.0.1. or "name" not the IP assigned as part of the network - from
another computer you can ping IP successfully/

If you can ping 127.0.0.1 but not the real IP address, this generally signals
a failure of the binding between TCP/IP and the LAN card driver.

You can check the bindings in the network control panel.

If all else fails I'd suggest removing ALL the network components from the
LAN card entry. Then delete the card-entry from Device Manager. Restart the
computer and the card should be redetected. Hopefully this time it should
bind correctly.

I just got done repairing my windows xp os which restored everything to
SP1 with no firewalls. I also uninstalled my network card and
utilities through add/remove programs and device manager and then
reinstalled it with no luck. I then decided maybe it is my wireless
card, so I moved my computer next to my router and wired it instead of
connecting wirelessly, still no luck. WHAT ELSE COULD IT BE?! I have
fixed many computer problems.... but this one is driving me crazy. I
want to have a nice network... where I can talk to the computers on the
network and they can talk to me... is that too much to ask? I hate
MICROSOFT!!!! Even the beta of Vista works fine on my computer, but xp
home... forget it. Is there anything else I am missing? There are no
firewalls, xp was repaired... which as far as I know reinstalls all
network settings. It just doesn't make sense to me. If I can talk to
the router and the internet, why can I talk to myself or other
computers on my home network? Thanks for all the suggestions so far.
