cannot open or start ie6 win98

i cannot open or start ie6 browser. it tells me that ie6
has encountered a problem and must close. i have tried
reverting back to ie5 and ie5.5, reinstalling ie6,
replacing the iexplore.exe file, i have tried repairing the
file option.
i have no viruses, and i have rid the computer of spyware
and checked the registry. this happened all of a sudden
and i suspect the work of ps downloads. aside from taking
the hard drive down again to reload windows, is there
anything else?

Check again for parasites. Use the latest definition table.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.
