IE6 FTP - cannot drag and drop files

This is weird. I have been using IE6 as an FTP client. Using the folder
view, I would just drag and drop files right to my server space.
Suddenly, I can not drag and drop files anymore. If I attempt to drag
and drop, I get a circle with a line through it, as I drag the file
into the IE6 folder view area.

I have tried a repair of IE6, as well as a total reinstall, to no
avail. I believe something may have corrupted my registry.

I am using Windows 2000. Additional symptoms: while typing in any text
boxes, my curser randomly jumps out of the box. Really weird.

I have scanned for viral infestation with two seperate virus programs.
I have also checked for any spyware. Everything is clean.

Also, when I uninstalled IE6 and went back to IE5, IE5 behaved the
same, with respect to the FTP problem.

Any ideas?

Hi :)

It appears that your system is still infected with malware that is causing
the problem. AV's and spyware removal programs are not programmed to detect
or remove malware, Trojans, hijackers or the such. Thus, you need to run
the following programs to be sure your system is fully clean.

Run the programs below in Safe Mode with Hidden Files and follow all
instructions carefully:

WARNING>>>> Backup all documents and files before removing any spyware!!

Download and install BHODemon from
http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm
Your problem may be caused by a bad BHO.

Most importantly, download install and run CWShredder here
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3019.html
and this program, which searches for hidden .dlls that recreate the malware.
About Buster:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4289.html
Then visit these two sites to test for parasites and help basic cleaning:
On-Line Check
http://aumha.org/a/noads.htm
and
Quick-Fix Protocol.
http://aumha.org/a/quickfix.php
Basically, throw everything here at your "infection".

Then download, install and immediately update these two programs before
running:

AdAware SE - Update immediately after installing
http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html?part=69274&subj=dlpage&tag=button
SpyBot S &D - Update immediately after installing
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download2471.html

Download pocket killbox from Download pocket killbox from
http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/killbox.exe
and put it on the desktop where you can find it easily

Also download, install, and run HiJackThis - it is one of the very import
tools to clean your system of all scumware. Follow the instructions
carefully:

Tried everything that you mentioned. I found a couple of spyware things
and deleted them. THe problem still exists.

Oddly, I can change my folder view from classic to "enable web contents
in folders" and the drag & drop functionality works properly. Also, I
am still having the problems while typing in text windows.

Something really has screwed things up. These scumware authors need to
be drawn and quartered... the old fasioned way.

Well, if there's one thing I've learned over the years of working in
the IT field, the smartest thing I can do at this point is to do a
reinstall of my OS. I've already spent too much time on a problem which
can easily be fixed with a reinstall :)

It is possible that some files have become corrupted or damaged, and as you
have already done a repair without good results, then I think you are
correct in doing a reinstall at this point. Wish I could have been of more
help.

Good luck! :)
