Cannot open certain sites

I have recently run into a problem where I cannot open
certain sites - www.yahoo.com, www.microsoft.com,
www.aol.com, www.symantec.com. I am able to access
certain parts of these sites - my.yahoo.com,
msdn.microsoft.com, etc.
Does anyone know what may be causing this?

Secure sites appear fine. Since this happens on several
computers, I'm wondering if a Windows Update may have done
something to IE.
Any thoughts?
