Cannot open any 'Internet Explorer Windows'...

Hi, I am having trouble launching programmes that use the internet explorer
browser, such as My documents, Internet explorer, Recycling bin etc.

When I click o open the programme, the whole background icons, including the
start menu, disappear with only my desktop background. After about 3 seconds,
it re-appears with no change, and repeats itself.

I have tried everything I can think of. I am having to use Mozilla Firefox
for internet.

Good, you shouldn't use IE anyway.

Try using msconfig to disable startup items. Also, might want to
download a tool like SpySweeper or go to www.trendmicro.com/housecall
to check your comp for malware.

Done everything mentioned above, still no luck. I also need to open/explore all users, unable to do so.
