cannot logon to some secure web sites

I have several xp client machines in the office. We are using active
directory on 2003 server. I am using sharepoint with secure connection
(SSL). My users are required to change their password every 40 days. The
problem is that some (few) users can not logon to sharepoint, from their xp
machine, after they change their password. The error they get is " The page
cannot be displayed. HTTP 500-Internal server error..........When they logon
to other xp machines, they can log to sharepoint fine. I had to logon to AD
and enter their old password. Most of the staff does not have a problem.
Any idea?

Thanks,

try to register some DLL files that may be corrupted... very simple:

Click Start, click Run, type in regsvr32 softpub.dll and click ok. When it
says it succeeded then click ok again. Works pretty well on Windows XP.

I tried that and it did not make a difference. I still get the same error
msg " page cannot be displayed....HTTP 500"

The funny thing is that I can get to another secure Internal web site like
my OWA but not my secure sharepoint portal site.
