Cannot logon Exchange Messaging

Ray Becklwith

We just started testing Exchange Messaging on our Exchange 2000 server and
were able to get working fine with Windows Messenger 4.7. At the suggestion
of a support article we upgraded to Windows Messenger 5 and now we cannot
sign-in to Exchange messaging. When we try we get the dialog saying

Exchange Instant Messaging Failure
The email address does not match the user name and
password of the person logged in to this computer. Make
sure you provide the correct user name, password and
domain for the email address.

No combination of username, password and domain we try will fail with
"Signing in to Microsoft Exchange Instant Messaging failed because the
password is incorrect or the sign-in name does not exist. Check your sign-in
name and password and try again.

Has anyone else seen this and do you know a solution. I've tried
uninstalling Windows Messaging from Add/remove programs but I still have
version 5.0 and the sign-in problem.
