Cannot Login to PC Anymore!!!

HELP!! here's the deal...

i wanted to make my computer bypass the whole
username/password thing. I went into Control Panel, then
Users. (my computer only has one user -- Administrator).
there was a checkbox enabling me to have "automatic login
to computer" (or something to that effect). Once i
checked it on, the computer gave me the option to change
my password, i just hit Enter to bypass because i wanted
to keep the same password.

Now, when i turn on my computer, once it gets to the login
start-up screen, the computer first tries to bypass the
login, but stops dead short, telling me my username and
passord do not match what they're supposed to!!

i've tried starting up in Safe Mode, i've tried other
numerous choices from the F8 screen, but to no avail! I
was wondering if there is ANY way i can do anything to get
in....... the LAST thing on my mind is reloading Windows
and losing my documents.

Please Help!!

Welll if you just hit enter at the password change isn't your password just
blank? Like administrator with no password.....

the blank password was the original password. i wanted to
KEEP it that way...... apparently that didn't happen and
something defaulted it somewhere......???

Hmmm...not sure what happened there is no default password. You'll need to
either install a parallel copy and get your data, reinstall from scratch and
search the Internte or these newsgroups for password recovery tools. This is
posted in here almost daily so do a google search for lost admin password
and you'll find some tools. Of course this is not supported and even
Microsoft will tell you to reinstall as your only option but there are
ways......

If you can get your hands on ERD Commander (winternals.com), you can
boot through the CD, and reset the administrator password.

thanks for everything. i finally found the password. for
some strange reason, the Administrator i was on completely
pooched itself (i don't know how). luckily, i also backed
up the ORIGINAL Adminstrator that was first on the the
computer 4 years ago when we first got the darn thing.
man i tell ya... the only way we found THIS was by going
back in time, trying all passwords we ever used. it just
so happened to be the very first password we put in!

i didn't try the link, so i can't comment on that. and
the repair disk(s) i used couldn't help either.

the other things that could have worked would be the
following....

1. completely reload windows, lose all personal files i
had stored.
2. buy the XP upgrade disk ($150-$200) and upgrade the
whole computer, resetting the password and keeping all
stored files i had.

luckily we didn't have to go either route. THANKS
EVERYONE FOR YOUR HELP!!

Kevin.
