I didn't do anything that I can tell with my laptop that
has XP Home OS. One day I booted up and it says "The
Local Policy of This System Does Not Permit You to Logon
Interactively". I've tried the stuff in 315276, but it
doesn't seem to work. I don't get an error message, but
I still can't logon. I'm fairly confident that I've used
a different machine connected to the same workgroup with
the same administrative username/password as the laptop
(Owner) and I still can't get the stuff in 315276 to
work. However, since I cannot connect to
\\laptopcomputername\c$, I am skeptical that I've got
everything exactly correct.

Can anybody help me get back onto my laptop? Even safe
mode brings up the same error message. There's only one
user (Owner) setup on the laptop.

I have this problem as well and as far as I can tell many
other people are having the same problem, but I yet to see
a post that solves the problem, if you find out how to
solve it please let me know!

See the link below. Another solution which also requires a computer on the network is
to create a batch file using secedit that resets user rights assignments back to
default, copying that file to the locked out computer via administrator share, and
then using mmc on the remote computer to configure Group Policy on the locked out
computer to run the batch file as a start up script. --- Steve

I need to add that my recommendations are for XP Pro. I do not know if they will work
on Home. --- Steve
