Cannot load profile using remote desktop. (XP64)

Whenever I use my computer to 'remote' to my XP64 machine, I get the
following error immediately.

"Windows cannot load the locally stored profile. Possible causes of this
error include insufficient security rights or a corrupt local profile. If
this problem persists, contact your network administrator."

When I check the event viewer it shows these errors as the cause;

"Windows cannot load the locally stored profile. Possible causes of this
error include insufficient security rights or a corrupt local profile. If
this problem persists, contact your network administrator.

DETAIL - The process cannot access the file because it is being used by
another process.

and;

Windows was unable to load the registry. This is often caused by
insufficient memory or insufficient security rights.

DETAIL - The process cannot access the file because it is being used by
another process. for C:\Documents and Settings\test\ntuser.dat

It drives me crazy because literally 90% of my time spent on my PC is spent
using remote desktop.

If I immediately log off, I can log into the PC fine on the subsequent
login. If I then logoff/reboot the computer, I get presented with the above
error all over again. Any suggestions at all?
