cannot load 2000 pro or XP Pro on Presario 1215 Laptop

when I try to load 2000/XP pro, the system halt after
boot/reboot screen. error message says "page fault in non-
paged area"
 
Hi

This error comes when u have a faulty RAM chip or a
defect in the motherboard or bad sectors in the boot
sector of the hard disk.
