Cannot install Windows XP SP2 after repair install

Hello,

For some reason it appears that I cannot install Windows XP SP2 after a
repair install. When it gets to "Running processes before install", the
SP2 setup always freezes. Also, after I run SP2 setup and cancel it
after it freezes up, my computer is always using 100% CPU Usage. The
only way I can bring the CPU usage down is by doing a reboot. But then
when I run SP2 setup again the setup freezes again, and the CPU Usage
goes back up to 100%. Is there any way to permanently bring down my CPU
usage and get SP2 setup to finish successfully?

Devin, a Repair Install may not have solved a virus or malware issue
that's preventing you from reinstalling SP2. I would
check to see if that's the case.

No, I did a repair install because so many systems files were corrupt
that I couldn't start my computer. Plus, Norton detected no viruses or
risks before the repair install and after.

Devin, you could try installing SP2 from Safe Mode. Try shutting down
Norton also during Install.
