Cannot insert Photo Gallery

When we try to insert Photo Gallery into Web Page from Web Components
selection our FP2002 crashes, generates an error report with no other error
indications. We have updated Office, FP and even tried the XP SP3 update
that indicated all components are already updated.

We still cannot insert a photo gallery.

Did you create a Web (Site) first, then the page for the Photogallery, then Insert | Web Component | Photogallery?

Also, first Import the images for the gallery into FP - usually into your image folder.

thanks for the response Rob ...

We are working in an existing site, we have created a new page for the site
and are trying to create a photo gallery on this one page. We cannot get
beyond first base. I have tried other web components and they seem to open
correctly, just not photo gallery.

Ok, so you:

Open FP
File | Open Web
Open the page where you want to insert photogallery
Try to Insert | Web Component | ...photogallery

Then what happens? What (if any) errors are you receiving?
You're working on the local copy of the web right?

Yes, we open the web ... a list of files is displayed I open the htm page I
was working on and try to insert the photo gallery and then .... no error
just closes FP and generates an error report ... I have now submitted 20 such
reports.

What does the error report say?

Try dumping you temp files.

Also, try searching you hd for *.web files and delete all (unless you use Xara...then leave the Xara ones alone and delete the others)

we searched and deleted 500 tmp files ... we searched and deleted 2 .web
files ... we tried again ... same thing ... another error report and no
obvious error anywhere else.

Well we got FP 2002 to work ... not the way it is documented but it works.

We pull down Insert and select pictures instead of web component ... from
the Pictures pulldown we can select New Photo Gallery and that seems to work.

There is not documentation that I can find that suggests creating a Photo
Gallery this way but it works ... thanks to all for your suggestions.

That's wierd. At some point you may want to run Detect and Repair on FP2002 - it's under the Help drop down.

Rob, I had done this twice before and still get the same results. It could
be this version of FP 2002 has a different way of initiating the Gallery.

I have read some pretty negative things about it but this seems to work very
well for displaying lots of photos ...

Again, thanks to all for your very helpful comments.

Hey, no problem.

Yes Photo Gallery is quirky. There seems to be a "double secret" invisible wall that I run into every now and then with them. I can't figure out if it's the number of the images, or the size of the files...no logical answer to why they don't work sometimes.

oh well...
