Photo Gallery and Hit Counter - FP2003

When selecting Insert>Web Component>Hit Counter or Insert>Web Component>Photo
Gallery, FrontPage pauses and then I am presented with the Error Report popup
box. "Microsoft Office FrontPage has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I have gone to the Tools>Page
Options>Authoring window and note that the Activex Controls and
Javascript/Jscript options under Browsers are unavailable. I further note
that if I select the photo gallery page template from File>New, the sample
photo gallery opens.

I want to be able to insert hit counters and photo galleries on the fly.
Can you help?

Thanx,
Mikie

Make sure that you have web / site open in FP first via File Menu | Open Site / Web.

Ran chkdsk, uninstalled FP, reinstalled FP, reinstalled MS Office (2003) SP2.
Defrag is done weekly. Also note that when Hit Counter or Photo Gallery are
selected, no options appear in the "Choose an Effect" pane. Mike

The computer is new - I built it; AMD X2 5200, 2 Gigs ram. Plenty of HD
space. Running XP - SP2 with all updates. Started out with Office XP w/
Frontpage (2002). Now Office 2007 Ultimate and FrontPage 2003 SP2. Office
and Frontpage have been totally removed and reinstalled with no change. CA
antivirus, Windows Firewall for security. Spybot, Adaware..that's it. All
help is appreciated. Thanx. Mike
