Cannot get Word to launch

I just downloaded the trial version of MS Office earlier today, and Word will
not launch. Excel and PowerPoint do, but not Word. Makes me think twice
about spending the money to buy the product if it is not going to work. I am
running OS X 10.4.11 on an iMac w/2Ghz Intel Core Duo, 512 MB 667 MHz RAM.
Any suggestions?
