Hi,
I have a problem that affects a *few* machines (one Toshiba laptop and one
desktop, but all the other machines I supervise (30 !) are fine.
These two machines are unable to get an IP address frol the DHCP server
(which runs normally and gives addresses to all other machines; there is no
restriction about MAC adressses etc... on the network... and all firewalls
have been disabled but to no avail).
Both machines can access the network and INTERNET if I manually give them a
fixed IP address.
An additional "symptom" is that when chnaging from a fixed to an dynamic
address, I 'am prompted to restart the computer (as in tne old good times of
Win98...). Restarting will not solve the problem (if the TCI/IP properties
are set to "obtain a dynamic address", it will *not* be obtained and no
connection wil be available; if the TCP/IP properties are set to a fixed IP
address, veryting is fine...).
Has anyone a suggestion as how to "repair" this part of the TCP/IP software
without having to fully resintall Windows ?
Any help will be appreciated.
Paul.
