Cannot find server

Somehow i cannot connect to the internet with my cable
modem i called me cable company and they tell me that the
modem is working fine and that i am in fact online but
they believe i have a winsock error thats why i cannot go
online how do i fix it >?

This seems to be a common problem with high speed connections. Winsock2 gets
corrupted. The fix I use is to go into the registry and delete every
instance of Winsock2 found. Reboot and everything is fine again. If it's
necessary, Windows automatically replaces it with a new one. ISP tech
support isn't allowed to tell you to mess with your registry so they hint
around about it or tell you to look up Winsock2 errors on Microsoft. You can
also google Winsock2 problems and a lot of pages will come up about it
causing various oddities.
