cannot find file

After Office 2000 re install when double clicking on an Excel document the
following error message is displayed:
"Cannot find the file C:|Documents and settings\username\My Documents\file
name (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct
and that all required libraries are available.
Any help greatly appreciated

Hi
not sure this will help but try the following:
goto 'Tools-Options-General " and uncheck "Ignore other Applications"
Exit Excel and try again

If this doesn't work try to re-register Excel

1. Close Excel first and
2. On the Windows Taskbar
2.1 Start>Run "excel.exe /unregserver"(no quotes)>OK.
2.2 Start>Run "excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)>OK.
