Cannot figure how to creat a domain login

I have a laptop win XP pro connected via wireless connection I can get onto the internet fine but I cannot login to my windows server 2003 when I go to computer name and try to change it my network id button is greyed out and member of buttons also grey out, what am I doing wrong here I created the computer on the server end also.
